How to Teach Letter Recognition Using Letter Worksheets
Start by introducing one letter at a time. Say the letter name and sound while pointing to it.
Encourage your child to trace the letter by connecting the sots. Preschoolers can trace multiple times using a different color each time, for added practice, like rainbow writing. Alternatively, preschoolers can also use Q-tips to dab each dot in the letter, or use small dot stickers to form the letter. This is what makes the worksheets to hands-on!
Next, search for the same letter in the letter hunt boxes. Both upper case and lower case letters are included.

There’s also a beginning sound picture where you can talk about objects that start with that letter. This helps preschoolers associate the letter names and sounds.
Finally, preschoolers can trace the letters at the bottom of the worksheet. There are two different formats. The first is a large, blocky letter that has directional arrows showing the correct formation. The second is a dashed line for preschoolers to trace.
For a multisensory approach, let kids build letters using playdough before tracing them.
