Description
Letter Formation Mats with Beginning Sounds are designed to teach your preschooler letter formation in a fun and tactile way without the worksheets!
Children enjoy tracing the letters with their fingers and naming the pictures. And all this is happening as the children learn beginning sounds at the same time.
This resource is designed for finger tracing, where children use their finger, or push a button, to form the letter. (Although they can be placed in a wipe-clean pouch for use with a dry-erase marker, too).
Red dots on the letters indicate where the child should begin the letter, teaching the top to bottom and left to right progression of forming letters. Teachers and parents can even use the verbal cues from any guided reading program as the children finger trace. For example, “Over, then around like a c,” when forming the lower case e.
Skills this resource targets:
- letter formation
- letter identification
- letter sounds
- beginning sounds
- fine motor skills
This resource can be used during small group instruction or as independent work in a literacy center activity. Use these letter formation mats to introduce formation to your preschooler or reinforce them with your kindergartener.
