Christmas Art Activities for Preschoolers
I love making easy Christmas crafts with my kids and discovering all the wonderful skills they can learn from crafts! But there’s a really special place in my heart for art projects, especially process art, around the holidays.
I love including lots of process art in my lesson plans because this kind of art allows preschoolers and toddlers the flexibility and freedom to explore art materials. To really use and manipulate them.
While in many process art activities I will show my toddlers and preschoolers a specific technique, I do not force them to use said technique. If a child should ever be allowed to break the rules and step over boundaries, it should be in art!
Toddlers and preschoolers especially benefit from process art activities. And they can be naturals at it too, since they naturally question any process put before them. They wonder and ask all those, “what if?” questions.
That’s just one of many reasons I adore this Christmas process art activities for preschoolers. It not only presents new techniques, but it also allows for plenty of freedom to manipulate the materials.
These Christmas art activities for preschoolers are very simple to set up and require only a little bit of prep time from adults. Using basic art and craft supplies such as paper plates, pipe cleaners, pom poms, popsicle sticks, and cotton balls preschoolers and toddlers can create a unique gift for loved ones or Christmas decor.
FAQs about Christmas Art for Kids
Process art is about allowing the children to enjoy the experience of being creative and not about the end product. Crafts require quite a bit of prep time from adults and the result is a completed project in which every child’s craft will look approximately the same.
