Initial Sound Picture/Letter Matching Version II

September 1, 2014 by Sarah Punkoney, MAT 1 Comment

Remember Version I of Initial Sound Picture/Letter Matching?  Well, today I wanted to share with you a second version that teaches the same letter and sound matching skills.

This activity uses REAL photographs with my phonics photo cards. It is really a quite simple letter/sound learning game, but also very effective and fun.

Be sure to also go back and check out Version 1 of Initial Sound Picture/Letter Matching.

If this is your first time, please join me regularly via  E-mail in the right sidebar, Facebook, Twitter @StayAtHomeEdu, and Pinterest.  For your convenience, I have included some of our favorite products related to phonics learning.  Any purchase of these products goes directly to maintaining this blog.

Using a set of phonics photo cards, (you can make your own like I did, or purchase some online), and a set of letter cards, select a photo card and three letter cards, with only one letter card matching the initial sound of the photo.

Now, invite your child to identify which letter matches the beginning sound of the photo card.  Repeat and continue.

You might enjoy these versions of the game, too!
